My sister is friends with Ilze’s sister (and her father was my Afrikaans teacher for three years in high school), so when Ilze asked me to shoot their wedding, I had no hesitation to say yes. She got ready at her parents guesthouse in Stellenbosch (http://www.aandorpstraat.papegaai.co.za/) before the ceremony and reception at Klein Bottelary just outside Stellenbosch. It was a beautiful and unique wedding where Ilze and Braam’s love for each other, their friends and family became very clear. Also, they really know how to celebrate – the dance floor was busy from the moment it was opened until 2 in the morning when I finally stopped shooting after 16 hours behind the camera!
So mooi vasgevang AM, dankie!
I would like to comment, not only on the wonderful photographs taken by AM and his sister, Carina, (who was his co-photographer), but also on the wonderfully comfortable way in which they did the job. Perfectly on time, very professional and non-intrusive AM and Carina took lovely pictures of the bride getting ready and the groom at the venue beforehand. During the service, amazing shots were taken and one hardly noticed that they were there. Am and Carina then succeeded in having everyone relaxed and happy in front of the camera for the more formal, posed, family pictures. Then by simply blending in at the wedding, these two stayed with us for the whole party and captured many unposed pictures, little details and wonderful happy moments that may have gone unnoticed to most, but that mean the world to us – as we reflect on this happy day. We have, at this time, seen several wonderful pictures and cannot wait to see all the photos of which AM and Carina took a generous number. Thank you both so much for doing a great job!
